  1. Take a Walk on the Wild Side.

    February 26, 2012 by CourtneyJane

On a sunny London Sunday we decided to venture out to the Zoo. After a stroll through Regent’s Park, we walked over to meet some new animal friends. The London Zoo was a very different zoo than we’re used to in the States. In various habitats the animals weren’t even contained–rather we would walk through thick plastic slats into a large enclosure where the animals were free to fly or run about. In one habitat, the little monkey pictured below was one of many running and tumbling amongst our feet. Of course, there were many (somewhat graphic) warnings about what would happen if you tried to touch the monkeys (hint: Ned Ninefingers was the star of said warnings).

Frolicking in the crisp fall breeze at Regent’s Park.

    Penguins

The Reptile House (also a Harry Potter filming location if you remember–very exciting for me).

    Pelican.

In this very moment I’m King.

    Monkeying around.

  2. London Calling

    February 26, 2012 by CourtneyJane

We arrived back in London from our honeymoon ready to explore the city and find a place to settle down. Such an exciting time to see the sights–please enjoy a few shots from our early London days below:

Owl & Pussycat. Our favorite new spot for warm beer and meat pies.

Window shopping for antiques on Portobello Road in no-jacket London weather.

    Belated birthday champagne at Harrod’s.

Laduree Macaroons in Covent Garden. :-)

Priscilla: Queen of the Desert in the West End. Such an amazing, fun show!

  3. Honeymoon: Cadaques and Barcelona

    February 26, 2012 by CourtneyJane

We touched down in London for a few brief days…just enough time to drop off the majority of our luggage and do some light re-packing for our honeymoon on the Costa Brava. The September weather was warm and the sun was shining. Eating our weight in paella washed down with glasses of ice cold Estrella was the perfect way to relax and recharge ourselves after the wonderful wedding frenzy. Although we speak exactly no Spanish beyond “Hola”, “Por Favor” and “Gracias”, as long as I could manage to ask for Boquerones, I was as happy as a clam (and I was often asking for those too of course–delicious!).

    Cadaques, Spain

Heavenly spot for a picnic and some snorkeling at Cap de Creus.

Amazing local cuisine at Casa Anita in Cadaques: The kind of restaurant where there are no menus and they bring you whatever is the most fresh and tasty–my very favorite kind of place.

Quimet y Quimet: Most delicious tapas in Barcelona!

    Parc Guell: Gaudi Mosaic

    La Boqueria

Paella aftermath at El Roure in Barcelona: the most fabulous paella made only on Thursdays at lunchtime.

We picked Spain as our honeymoon destination because it was a country that neither of us had ever visited but always wanted to–and now we’re chomping at the bit to go back! San Sebastien is definitely on our short travel list for sampling to-die-for tapas. Adios for now Spain!

  4. 9.10.11

Ted and I were married on September 10, 2011 at the Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Hall in West Tisbury, Massachusetts. The day was beyond magical…to say the very least. We had the most amazing time with our dear families and friends and thank everyone so much for being a part of it!

After celebrating and bidding our loved ones goodbye, we were off and running before we knew it. Back to New Hampshire and then off to London for a two-year secondment within a matter of four days (and Ted had a birthday somewhere in there as well!). And so it begins…the best is yet to come.
